Over Claudia

I am a production engineer (equivalent to industrial engineering in Belgium) and I have an additional postgraduate degree in marketing. Besides many positions as marketing responsible, I was a university teacher in my country for 2 years, which gave me all the pedagogical tools to teach. Then here in Belgium I have been a Spanish teacher for 15 years. I have had many private students from 13-17 years old, and I have also done "Spanish summer stages for young people".

Motivatie

I like to give private classes because I am excited to see that I can contribute to a person's education, to their evolution as an individual, to their cultural expansion; because a new language opens a lot of doors to the world. I like to be part of that progress, to be part of the intellectual and social development of these young people.
I have been a tutor for a long time and I feel very proud of all the students I have had who now master Spanish and can use it in their travels, to improve their job possibilities, to open their minds to other cultures.

Mijn aanpak

After being a Spanish teacher for 15 years and having had students from 7 to 84 years old the only thing I can say is that with each student you must customize the lesson in a different way depending on their abilities; it is clear that there are people more talented than others for languages, also depending on their needs; there are people who want to learn for school to pass an exam as a single goal, others for a trip, for a summer love, for life, ... This motivation also makes the class to be adjusted or adapted because in each case the objectives will be different, in conclusion: I personalise the class to each individual. It is not the same class for a person of 8 years old as for a person of 18 or 58 years old. It is not the same approach for a teenager as for an adult: depending on the profile of the student I invest different didactic aids, these can be articles, songs, debates, role plays, everything depends on the person. I have a lot of material accumulated in these 15 years. When you go to learn Spanish in a language school, as a general rule the teacher cannot speak in any other language than the one he/she is teaching. and that, precisely that is the key. My experience with Flemish students is always wonderful and gratifying. In fact, they are the students who learn the fastest, I have had cases of students who could speak very good Spanish in just 4 months. My biggest advantage, apart from my extensive experience and the fact that I have a very good knowledge of Spanish, because of my academic background, is that I am a very joyful person, full of energy, passionate about life, with a sense of humour and enthusiasm for what I do, and I don't only love teaching the language but also talking to my students about the Spanish-speaking culture, traditions, magic places, music, literature, food... It's a really interesting added value.
